The Ferryman (Korean: 골카론, golkaron, "Golcharon") is an NPC who appeared in World Exploration's Forgotten Academy at launch.
The Ferryman is a ghostly emissary who grants GingerBrave and friends travel to the Academy of Magic, only asking for company and conversation as compensation for his service. Instead of using a boat or other mode of transportation, the Ferryman somehow allows for the Cookies to walk on water. After the Cookies arrive, he insists that he "will remain by [their] side until the very end," though he is quickly dissuaded by a single line from 
Chili Pepper Cookie.
Appearance[]
The Ferryman, a ghost, has a white skull as a head with glowing cyan eyes, which is connected to no discernible body. He wears midnight blue robes and has a Vanillian-like waffle cone hood with a light blue and purple liquid coating at its curled tip.
The Ferryman's scythe has a long handle candy-striped with white and cyan. The top of the handle holds a sapphire orb and the bottom resembles the end of a bone. The blade of the scythe matches its orb in color with an added wavy edge in turquoise.
Trivia[]
- The Ferryman, being made of only bones, is known for winning ice-cream eating contests. He credits this to the fact that whatever he eats "falls right through."
- The crosshatched pattern on the Ferryman's hat is reminiscent of that of a Vanillian.
- The Grim-looking Scythe Treasure appears to be based on the Ferryman's own scythe.
- The Ferryman's original name in Korean is far more individualized than his English name, translating to Golcharon (골카론, golkaron). This name is a combination of 骨 (gol), a Hanja character meaning "bone," and Charon.
- In Greek mythology, Charon is a ferryman of Hades who carries souls across the river that divides the world of the living from the land of the dead.
