Overview |
At last, a chance to rebuild the Cookie Kingdom! Diddi-da-di!
Sugar Gnomes (Korean: 설탕노움, seoltangnoum) are a species of creatures introduced in Cookie Run: Kingdom at the game's launch.
Sugar Gnomes as a group serve as mascots for the game alongside characters like
GingerBrave and Cake Hounds. In-game, they serve as supporting NPCs and minor characters, often appearing in tutorial segments, Decors, and Events. Though they most often appear as nameless, generic individuals, a small number of named Sugar Gnomes exist.
A crafty, jolly bunch, they serve as workers in the player's Kingdom and are able to perform tasks like construction and research. A player is given three Sugar Gnome workers upon beginning the game, and three more can be purchased through the Shop for a maximum of six Sugar Gnomes.
Summary[]
Sugar Gnomes are very peaceful, friendly folk—sometimes to the point of naivety. They are highly social and agreeable; in the introduction, they immediately jump to help
GingerBrave, and company the moment the gang mentions wanting to rebuild and inhabit the ruined Kingdom. Apparently, the Gnomes had stayed put for however long the previous inhabitants of the Kingdom had been absent, waiting for them or anyone else to return; this highlights their exceptional loyalty and communal nature. Despite their easygoing disposition, these people are prone to great, sudden panic at the slightest bit of danger. The Gnomes are led by the Maestro Sugar Gnome.
The group is infamous for their goofy dialectal quips such as "doopity-doo," "doo-di-dah," and "dee-do-dah." Along with this, they employ poetic, jester-like speech patterns that can make them seem like they dance around that which they try to convey. The Gnomes have high, lilted voices resembling those of children.
The Gnomes have no qualms with working and perhaps even enjoy hard labor. They are greatly skilled in construction and eagerly jump to the occasion whenever the Kingdom's infrastructure needs expanding. A two-Gnome workforce and their accompanying huts are given to the player for free upon accessing the Kingdom, with another being purchasable with 800 Crystals and three more being locked behind premium purchases.
Herb Cookie tending to a sprouted Sugar Gnome (from April Fool's Day 2021)
Sugar Gnomes, as their name would suggest, are comprised of delicate sugar—so delicate, they begin to physically melt under stress. Their facial hair, likely made of a type of cream, is present from birth and doesn't indicate their individual ages. In regards to their sexes, they don't seem to distinguish amongst genders, are all the same sex and gender, or do not have societal concepts of gender. Newborn Gnomes are cultivated in the ground like root vegetables and emerge fully grown.
The Gnomes are highly present as Decor items, both having their own entire set and appearing in other sets. These items show a more diverse narrative, representing Gnomes with various hobbies, appearances, and attitudes. It is unknown whether these items are living Sugar Gnomes or simply inanimate decorations similar to garden gnomes.
The player's Sugar Gnomes will wander about the Kingdom when not working, but they cannot be prompted to speak or lifted like a Cookie can be. They also cannot interact with Decors or speak with other entities. All owned Sugar Gnomes' huts act like basic decors, so the player may keep it in the Storage.

April Fools' Day 2021[]
Sugar Gnome is here?! - Cookie Run- Kingdom
Sugar Gnome April Fools Day 2021 official video
I'm gonna doopty-doo you!
On March 31st, 2021, the official Cookie Run: Kingdom English YouTube channel posted a video revealing a Sugar Gnome as a playable unit.
Unfortunately, this reveal was only a joke for April Fools Day. Towards the end of the video, it is shown that this "reveal" was only the dream of a growing newborn Gnome about to sprout.
The false Sugar Gnome unit was of the (nonexistent) "Gnome" Rarity and a
Charge unit set to a
Front position. They were incredibly overpowered, defeating a horde of Cake Monsters, the Cake Witch, and the Red Velvet Dragon in only a few hits. They attacked by swinging their mallet, lobbing Cookie Houses at the enemy and planting a permanent Cookie House in their place when defeated.
The dreaming Gnome, being watered by
Herb Cookie, emerges from the ground and reveals a coupon code—"GETUR1SUGARGNOME"—that would give the player a New Sugar Gnome Decor when redeemed. Later, other official social media supplied further coupon codes for more New Sugar Gnomes, "GETUR3SUGARGNOME," "GETUR5SUGARGNOME," and "GETUR7SUGARGNOME," giving 3, 5, and 7 more Gnomes respectively for 16 total New Sugar Gnomes. This video was also the reveal of the growth process of Sugar Gnomes.
GNOMED[]
GNOMED Season 1 Logo
GNOMED is a small series of shorts that features a trio of Sugar Gnomes—Sugar Gnome, Timid Sugar Gnome, and Angry Sugar Gnome—doing day to day activities. The series is posted on the official Cookie Run: Kingdom YouTube channel.
There are currently 3 seasons of GNOMED, totaling 17 episodes altogether. Its most recent episode released in September of 2022, indicating that it as a series may be discontinued.
The 17th New Sugar Gnome[]
The 17th New Sugar Gnome is an official isekai-genre webcomic series. Beginning in April of 2022, it follows a sixteen-year-old student and Cookie Run: Kingdom player, Jerome Parker, who is annoyed at the game's April Fools New Sugar Gnome gifts of 2021. He wakes up the next day to find himself inside the game as a Sugar Gnome—the seventeenth of the original sixteen New Sugar Gnomes—and must learn to live as an overworked, non-playable Cookie Kingdom citizen.
Though once hosted in the Cookie Run Store[1], it was presumably discontinued after the end of its first season and is no longer available in official capacities.
Trivia[]
A purple Gnome
- A Sugar Gnome's hat can come in more than one set design; often, a given Gnome can be seen wearing a solid red, cream-topped hat at one point while another can be wearing a red and pink striped, cream-less hat.
- The Kingdom Arena stage features a unique purple Sugar Gnome serving drinks in the stands. This palette shift may be an unintentional discoloration caused by the darkened palette of the audience area.
- Milk is apparently more lethal and corrosive to Sugar Gnomes than water; the Maestro Sugar Gnome reacts much more strongly to
Licorice Cookie's threats of soaking him in milk than those of dropping him in water. - One of the Guild Emblems depicts the visage of a Sugar Gnome brandishing a wrench and mallet.
- Sugar Gnomes look very similar to the Sugar Guards of Marshmallow Cookie's ability—they may be of the same or a similar species.

GingerBrave's April Fools' Day 2021 Trial official video (still not complete) (do not click)
- The Sugar Gnomes made a cameo appearance in Cookie Run: OvenBreak in the April Fools' Day 2021 Event in which they are seen frantically working to finish building
GingerBrave's new Trial. The player is forced to ignore the Gnomes' pleas to wait until the Trial is completed; the Gnomes are present throughout the stage attempting to work around GingerBrave's disruptive running and even fruitlessly trying to hinder his progress by running at him and removing helpful collectibles from his path. Many of the Sugar Gnomes in the office section of the Trial are tagged with the names of various developers of the game.
- The reward for achieving the Diamond rank in the trial is an exclusive costume for GingerBrave, Sugar Gnome Ride, in which two Sugar Gnomes lift and carry him for the entirety of his runs.
- Sugar Gnome's English voice actor, Sean Chiplock, also provides the voice of
Purple Yam Cookie. - Sugar Gnome's Taiwanese voice actress, Li Peijia, also provides the voices of
