Licorice Ooze (as well as their variant, Frost Licorice Ooze) are regular enemies that appear in World Exploration Episode 13, Snow on the Black Wall and the end of Episode 14, Citadel of the Frozen Cliff. They serves as sticky AoE ranged attackers that can split into smaller versions of themselves.

Behavior[]

Licorice Oozes appear at the back of enemy waves, in groups of one to three. Their regular attack targets the nearest enemy Cookie within a long range, ignoring summoned creatures. Each attack inflicts Status Corruption Corruption.

After every three attacks, it performs an interruptible special attack that spits a licorice glob at the nearest enemy Cookie. This glob leaves a puddle at the landing location for a short duration that deals damage to all teammates in the area.

When a Licorice Ooze is defeated, it splits into two smaller versions of itself with the same regular attack and special attack. If both of the spawned enemies remain alive after a duration, they will despawn and cause the Licorice Ooze to revive with full HP.

Frost Licorice Oozes share the above ability with Licorice Oozes, but behave differently otherwise. Its regular attack instead targets the Cookie with the highest ATK in a long range and does not inflict any debuffs.

Its special attack spits three licorice globs at the three Cookies with the highest ATK, with each glob leaving a damaging puddle under its target.

Tips[]

  • Licorice Oozes can be difficult to defeat if a team is unable to knock out at least one of the mini Licorice Oozes that it splits into. Have skills prepared to defeat the mini Oozes once the enemy splits apart, in order to both mitigate the amount of damage that they can deal and prevent the Licorice Oozes from reviving.
    • Licorice Oozes have more HP than most ranged enemies of the same power level, so don't expect them to go down easily to a single skill.
    • Only one mini-Ooze needs to be defeated to prevent the revive form occurring, so don't feel compelled to spread a team's damage thin just to hit as many Licorice Oozes as possible.
  • Puddles created by Licorice Oozes can stack, making them especially deadly once they split into mini-Oozes and spit out twice as many of them! Having a Cookie that can interrupt all the Licorice Oozes or mini-Oozes with a stunning AoE can prevent them from dropping too much damage onto the team, especially if they're Frosted Licorice Oozes that throw out three times as many puddles on a team's most vulnerable members.
    • Cookies such as Schwarzwälder Schwarzwälder or Pinecone Cookie Pinecone Cookie can be a good means of interrupting Licorice Oozes from completing their special attacks, being able to Status Stun Stun enemies even through an existing enemy frontline.
    • Cookies such as Milky Way Cookie Milky Way Cookie can push enemies back and make space for the team to walk out of puddles, preventing them from taking unnecessary damage.
