“ I am the Golden Sovereign! „
Golden Cheese Cookie (Korean: 골드치즈 쿠키, gol-du-chiju kuki) is one of the five Ancient Heroes in Cookie Run: Kingdom. She was the fourth to be released, being made playable alongside Burnt Cheese Cookie in the first part of the Lost Golden City update (v4.11) and receiving an Awakened form, Golden Cheese Cookie (Immortal), in the Wings of Eternity update (v5.11). She is of the Ranged type and her position is prioritized to the Middle.
Golden Cheese Cookie is the glimmering founder and queen of the Golden Cheese Kingdom. She carries the Light of Abundance in her Soul Jam, and is the counterpart to Burning Spice Cookie's Light of Destruction.

Gameplay Notes |
Alt. Skill
- This skill activates the first time Golden Cheese Cookie is defeated. When the duration ends, Golden Cheese Cookie revives with both 100% HP and her skill Cooldown reset.
- This skill is marked by an undispellable Revive buff on Golden Cheese Cookie. It is consumed when this skill is activated.
- After the duration of the Sarcophagus of Gold expires, Golden Cheese Cookie will be counted as defeated for a moment before reviving, losing all buffs and debuffs that the Sarcophagus had.
- The Sarcophagus' shield is denoted by the yellow portion of the HP bar.
- The Sarcophagus' shield is not affected by effects that would destroy or prevent shields such as Zap or Shields Blocked.
- If the Sarcophagus' HP is fully depleted before the duration ends, Golden Cheese Cookie will be defeated without reviving.
- If an additional source of Revive such as Sugar Swan's Shining Feather is active when the Sarcophagus is defeated, that source will revive Golden Cheese Cookie afterwards.
- The game considers the Sarcophagus as a Summon, but ignores buffs or debuffs that specifically affect Summoned Creatures.

Appearance
Golden Cheese Cookie has a golden burst of hair and baked-brown dough. Her eyes are also golden with white outlines and eyebrows, and a green pattern underneath them. She boasts a pair of golden arc-shaped wings with a green triangle pattern on their edges.
She wears a golden headdress on her head that contains her Soul Jam, with a perfect cheese triangle topping it and two longer triangles on the sides of her head. Her upper half is half-covered by a wide gold and green collar with outward spokes, while her lower half is covered by a linen skirt with an orange belt. She wears golden bracelets on her hands and wields a spear with two triangles on its ends pointed in the same direction, with the triangle on the point sporting holes similar to Swiss cheese.
Young Appearance
In her youth, Golden Cheese Cookie lacked her wings, headdress, and bracelets. Her hair was relatively the same, albeit with a long, trailing ponytail, and her eyes were marked with only a single turquoise triangle at their corners. She wore a simple poncho shawl and longer skirt.
Personality
A particularly proud and ambitious hero, Golden Cheese Cookie equates wealth to godliness, and sees no reason to be humble about it. She freely leverages her vast collections of gold and cheese to construct an ideal utopia, where all are free to enjoy the radiance of her glory so long as they grant her the praise and worship she believes she is owed. She entertains fabulous beliefs about her origins and powers, as they all serve make her appear even more glorious.
Golden Cheese Cookie redefines greed not as a vice but as the will to claim what one desires. Even in her youth, her willingness to brave inhospitable and desolate ruins for lost treasures was what eventually led her to the Light of Abundance. Despite her apparent arrogance, she acts as a kind queen that will do anything for the good of her Kingdom and her people, willing to spare no expense to preserve them from the ravages of destruction.
Golden Cheese Cookie wields the Light of Abundance due to her desire for a prosperous future and willingness to share that future with others. Even long past the time she was the queen of the real Golden Cheese Kingdom, and having no subjects besides the Cheesebirds, she remained true to her beliefs, her love for her subjects and treasures, as well as her status as a fabled hero who valiantly protected those around her. Once she learned of the new threat that Burning Spice Cookie posed to her kingdom, she revived Smoked Cheese Cookie in order to take the Soulcheese of Mozzarella Cookie and Burnt Cheese Cookie to safety, even after his betrayal and plot to overthrow her. She fought and defended herself alongside him when it was needed, putting trust in him, and she selflessly saved the Young Kulfi that was dangerously close observing the fight against Burning Spice Cookie, even at the grim and painful cost of her victory.
Retroactive Changes
[...] [Her snarky and cynical demeanor] created a problem of [her] chemistry with the other Ancient Cookies, known for their noble, selfless spirits. [...] Golden Cheese Cookie striving to surround herself in opulence, however well-intentioned, was looking too selfish and greedy. We realized that our initial idea, portrayed in The Art of CookieRun: Kingdom, was a bit too unfavorable. [...] For example, the book says that upon each of the many festivals held in the kingdom, the denizens were supposed to donate their gold to their queen.
[...] During a concept meeting for the Golden Cheese Kingdom, one of the artists asked us, "Why is such a vain, selfish Cookie called a hero?" [...] How could we portray "greed," typically a negative quality, in a way that our players can empathize with? [...] In the end, our team came up with a completely new idea of greed and desire for opulence, and [...] it suited Golden Cheese Cookie perfectly and transformed her into a very likable character.
Golden Cheese Cookie's character traits as implied in The Art of Cookie Run: Kingdom were significantly changed in between this original conceptualization and her proper release. Cookie Run: Kingdom's creative team felt that Golden Cheese Cookie's initial personality was far too "unfavorable," especially when compared to the other outwardly selfless and noble Ancient Heroes: she was manipulative and overreaching towards her people, being largely only concerned about herself. Developers described her as "cynical," "ill-willed," and "vain."
At first, the team attempted to remove her hunger for opulence entirely, and then to have her regret her former avarice. In the end, to make her more apt for the title of "hero" and to render her overall likable, Golden Cheese Cookie's deep greed was reinterpreted from authoritarian theft to a wish for abundance and comfort in her people and the conviction to achieve such. Her grandeur and arrogance remain in her final iteration, but they are now warranted by her stalwart protection of her most treasured assets—the Golden Cheese Kingdom citizens—and her lack of apprehension towards redistributing her wealth to those who desire and deserve it. Relatedly, Golden Cheese Cookie was also given a sympathetic angle in the Dark Flour War genocide of her people; this trauma provided players with a reason to root for her while instilling in her character a legitimate reason to disappear from the narrative—as the Ancient Heroes all did at first—and a reason to care at all about defeating Dark Enchantress Cookie.
Character Inspiration
Golden Cheese Cookie is likely based on Ra, the ancient Egyptian deity of the sun.
Trivia
- According to her loading screen trivia, "Golden Cheese Cookie's favorite time of the day is when the Cheesebirds dress her in her robe after a relaxing bath."
- Golden Cheese Cookie is the fourth Ancient Hero released.
- Unlike the three Ancient Cookies which preceded her, she did not release alongside the launch of an in-game server named after her.
- The Art of Cookie Run: Kingdom states that Golden Cheese Cookie was born by hatching from a Golden Egg that laid dormant for 5,000 years. It also clarifies that this is a myth: the egg on display in the Golden Cheese Kingdom is merely an empty dragon eggshell, painted gold, with Golden Cheese Cookie's subjects being none the wiser.
- This story persists in some form in the current versions of Golden Cheese Cookie and her kingdom, as various art in-game still depicts her emerging from a golden egg. What is unclear is whether it was changed to be true or not: notably, the Cracked Golden Egg Relic has a description of "Legend has it that the golden goddess herself was hatched from this very egg... But what's the truth?!"
- When Golden Cheese Cookie's Soul Jam, a downwards-facing triangle, is shattered as seen in the Prologue, it is seen incorrectly positioned with its point facing upwards. Interestingly, this error mirrors the shape of Burning Spice Cookie's Soul Jam, who released over three years after the launch of Cookie Run: Kingdom and likely hadn't even been conceptualized at the time.
- Based on the playable Prologue, Golden Cheese Cookie was originally planned to be placed in the Rear position. Golden Cheese Cookie's original Skill quote had her say "Kneel before me!" rather than the current "Divine radiance!"
- Despite being prioritized to the Middle, Golden Cheese Cookie is still prioritized to the Rear Position in the Prologue, likely to keep Pure Vanilla Cookie alone in the middle due to the cutscenes that follow.
- In Cookie Run: OvenBreak, an Event was held to promote the release of Cookie Run: Kingdom. One of the rewards given by this Event was a "The Great Kingdoms" Jelly Set, which features the Ancient Heroes as Bear Jellies.
- Golden Cheese Cookie is referred to in the set as "Bold Yellow Hero Jelly." The description reads, "Heroes must be bold and prepared for anything."
- Over two years before her proper release, Golden Cheese Cookie was present walking around a player's kingdom in promotional development images showcasing Cookie House skins. As her inclusion was accidental, the image was very quickly redacted and replaced with a version omitting her.
- Golden Cheese Cookie's German voice actress, Simona Pahl, also provides the voice of Avocado Cookie.
