Character Inspiration
Dark Choco Cookie as a character likely pulls inspiration from Guts, the protagonist of Kentaro Miura's Berserk.
Despite being named after dark chocolate, Dark Choco Cookie has a strong cookies and cream theme to his design; most notably, his shoulder pads resemble Oreos.
Aliases
- Boy (
Dark Cacao Cookie)
- Foolish whelp (Dark Cacao Cookie)
- Malicious creature (Dark Cacao Cookie)
Personality
Dark Choco Cookie is a quiet, reserved individual. He has very low self-esteem, nearly constantly reflecting on his regretful past and lamenting how everyone is afraid of him. Truly, the only instances in which Dark Choco Cookie expresses confidence are when acknowledges the fearful power the Strawberry Jam Sword has given him. When interacting with those he has no obligation to oppose, he is relatively polite though he can become short towards others. Perhaps due both to his low self-image and his Dark Cacao origins, Dark Choco Cookie is highly against allowing himself anything pleasurable in life.
Though he is affiliated with the Darkness, he seeks no destruction and chaos against the world unlike much of Dark Enchantress Cookie's forces—the exact circumstances of his recruitment are currently unknown even to other members of the group such as
Licorice Cookie. Dark Choco Cookie follows the Darkness due to his guilt and self-belittling due to his past actions, believing that someone as supposedly foul as himself deserves only the worst. He constantly endures abuse from those in Dark Enchantress Cookie's ranks and Dark Enchantress Cookie herself.
Pomegranate Cookie is a prime culprit in the derision against Dark Choco Cookie, often forcing him to relive his traumatic past with her illusory magic as punishment for not being truly dedicated to the Darkness's cause. In fact, after being defeated by GingerBrave and company both in the Hall of Enlightenment and the Timeless Kingdom, he does seem to wish to join the party when they offer such to him. However, he declines, stating that the painful path of Darkness is what he deserves.

Self-reflection
During his youth, Dark Choco Cookie was the cause of the Dark Cacao Kingdom's violent downfall. However, it can be said that such actions were not entirely his fault; they occurred immediately after he pulled the dark Strawberry Jam Sword, which is known for having mind-altering passive abilities similar to hypnotism. Regardless, it is clear that Dark Choco Cookie feels deep regret for these actions and believes that he alone ought to be punished.
Before the downfall of the Dark Cacao Kingdom, Dark Choco Cookie was outwardly confident and quite the go-getter. Despite his royal background, he was very charitable and highly concerned with the welfare of others, protecting those in need in his naïve quest to follow in his father's footsteps by becoming a hero and savior of his Kingdom. He was known to be particularly skilled in combat as he is known to have defeated Purple Yam Cookie in a tournament. Presently, it does seem that he continues to harbor his care for others though he cannot often act on such a trait if at all. Due to being saved from wolves by Dark Choco Cookie in the past,
Milk Cookie holds him in high regard and considers him a true hero.
Dark Choco Cookie most likely has post-traumatic stress disorder. This can easily be seen in his being constantly haunted by his past and his profound grief towards his actions, as well as his emotional breakdown caused by Pomegranate Cookie's cruel illusions depicting the things he regrets most. He likely has a depressive disorder as well, what with his persistent somber attitude and forlorn outlook on life.
Plot Summary
Hall of Enlightenment

Dark Choco Cookie makes his first World Exploration appearance in episode 8, Hall of Enlightenment. He stands in the way of GingerBrave and friends, attempting to put an end to their journey before they can go any further, but is unsuccessful and expresses disbelief that the power within his sword was insufficient. Custard Cookie III gives him a pat on the back and mentions that their group is in a hurry to find the Vanilla Kingdom to "make every Cookie happy". Dark Choco Cookie comments that he used to cling to similarly naïve dreams before he was proven wrong.
GingerBrave remains confident in their goals regardless and even offers for him to join them, which makes Dark Choco Cookie hesitate before denying the invitation and saying that he belongs in the darkness. GingerBrave briefly dwells on his response after he leaves, wondering whether or not Dark Choco Cookie was truly evil.
Cookies of Darkness
Sometime after Dark Enchantress Cookie's awakening, Dark Choco Cookie is featured in the Cookies of Darkness event story alongside
Licorice Cookie,
Poison Mushroom Cookie, and most notably,
Pomegranate Cookie. The story begins with a meeting between the four Cookies, which Dark Choco Cookie is late to and subsequently scolded for. Pomegranate Cookie assigns each Cookie a task before the four disperse to carry out her plans.
Dark Choco Cookie makes a mistake somewhere in his given task, causing Pomegranate Cookie's attempted spell to fail. She seeks and reprimands him for his incompetence, warning him that she will no longer tolerate him acting on his own. The four Cookies are forced to redo all of their work, with Pomegranate Cookie again blaming Dark Choco Cookie for the initial spell's failure and calling him the "prince of a fallen kingdom". Dark Choco Cookie takes far greater offense to the insult to his homeland than the insults to his person and quickly grows hostile. Pomegranate Cookie takes advantage of his anger instead of scaring away from it and continues to provoke him further.

Pomegranate Cookie casts an illusory spell on Dark Choco Cookie that forces him to relive visions of his past. He is first confronted with a vision of his father, Dark Cacao Cookie, and initially resists the effects that the illusions have on him by saying that nothing she shows him will affect him. However, his composure is immediately shattered by the vision of an unnamed archer from the Dark Cacao Kingdom, shouting that he "will never unsee that" and pleading for the memories to stop playing. Dark Choco Cookie is then forced to relive the events of his battle with his father, followed by his subsequent banishment, before Pomegranate Cookie lifts the spell. She takes his unrestrained malice towards her in stride and praises him for embracing his inner darkness before taking her leave. When left alone, Dark Choco Cookie begins to believe in the words she tells him and resigns himself to a life in the shadows, thinking that he only been fooling himself by believing that he had ever belonged somewhere other than the darkness.
Snow on the Black Wall

In episode 13 of World Exploration, Snow on the Black Wall, Dark Choco Cookie serves as an antagonist alongside the other Cookies of Darkness and follows their schemes to bring the Dark Cacao Kingdom to ruin. He takes it upon himself to "take the king out of play" in order to keep him from interfering with their plans and to retrieve the king's Soul Jam. With the assistance of Affogato Cookie, Dark Choco Cookie is able to defeat
Dark Cacao Cookie both in combat and by causing him to fall off of the citadel's highest wall, but is unable to take the Soul Jam as he did not have it with him. He shows some semblance of remorse for his actions once left alone, calling it a waste to have the kingdom fall by his hand and wondering if it had always been his destiny to cause such chaos.
Citadel of the Frozen Cliff
Dark Choco Cookie encounters Dark Cacao Cookie a second time in World Exploration episode 14, Citadel of the Frozen Cliff, though the latter is now accompanied by
Caramel Arrow Cookie. He tells Dark Cacao Cookie to give him the Soul Jam, saying that he will put it to better use, and is met with more harsh criticism over his lack of care for his homeland. Dark Choco Cookie reminds him that he had never known love nor sweetness during his time in the kingdom, recalling that the only lessons he received from his father were of how the strong were superior to the weak, and claims that he has since surpassed him in strength. Dark Cacao Cookie is only further aggravated by these words and claims that it is his life's greatest regret to have called him his son before the two engage in battle.

Dark Choco Cookie is defeated by Dark Cacao Cookie and again doubts his own strength and abilities. Dark Cacao Cookie listens to his words, recalling that it was he who first taught Dark Choco Cookie to wish for strength, and revises his words from earlier by saying that his true greatest regret was that he had not given his son enough love during his youth. He apologizes for having taken so long to arrive at such a realization before being interrupted by Pomegranate Cookie, who places a spell on Dark Cacao Cookie in an attempt to defeat him in Dark Choco Cookie's stead.

While the king is weakened, the Strawberry Jam Sword commands Dark Choco Cookie to attack his father. However, he instead chooses to resist the sword's influence, and uses it to attack Pomegranate Cookie. He renounces the ideas of strength and power that he had been carrying thus far, choosing to instead take the path he wishes to follow regardless of the consequences it may bring. Dark Choco Cookie decides to cast aside the cursed sword and walk away from the Cookies of Darkness as well as his homeland. The future of the former prince is left ambiguous, as is his relationship with the king.
