Cursed Shield (as well as their variant, Cursed Shield of Opposites) is a regular enemy that appears in World Exploration Episode 14, Citadel of the Frozen Cliff. It serves as a supportive melee unit, dealing damage in an area and inflicting status effects on enemies that strike them.

Behavior[]

Cursed Shields spawn at the front of enemy waves, typically in pairs. When attacking, they will ram into the player's team, dealing damage in a large area and pushing all foes back. This attack will go through summoned creatures to hit Cookies, but has a medium-length cooldown, during which time these enemies will move back. Whenever a Cookie deals direct damage to a Cursed Shield, they are inflicted with a stack of Status InjuryStatus Undispellable Debuff Injury that reduces Max HP by 1%.

Cursed Shields of Opposites share the same behaviour, but instead inflicts stacks of Status Corruption Corruption when they receive direct damage, which lasts for a short period of time. They may be paired with regular Cursed Shields in certain waves.

Tips[]

  • On their own, Cursed Shields can be simple to defeat. However, they are typically accompanied by other enemies that demand quick attention, also with other Cursed Shields.
  • It's extremely ill-advised to use Cookies with multi-hitting Skills such as Macaron Cookie Macaron Cookie against Cursed Shields, as this will only cause them to receive multiple deadly stacks of the debuffs that Cursed Shields inflict. Cookies that deal damage in one burst such as Captain Caviar Cookie Captain Caviar Cookie will fare better against these enemies.
  • Waves with more than one Cursed Shield in them can be very difficult to burst down, since damage-dealing Cookies can end up knocking themselves out in the process of using their Skills. Be watchful of your Cookies' health before using their Skills.
    • Squid Ink Cookie Squid Ink Cookie can circumvent the above issues due to their intangibility while using their skill, allowing them to clear enemy waves with Cursed Shields without receiving any debuffs. Other Cookies that also become intangible when using their skills can also damage these enemies without issue.
  • Constant teamwide healing can mitigate the constant damage that these enemies cause, although the debuffs active in Episode 14 will hinder such efforts.
  • Indirect damage (such as damage from Status BurnElement Fire Burn or Status PoisonElement Poison Poison) will not trigger the counter-infliction effect.
  • While summoned creatures can attack Cursed Shields without causing the counter-infliction effect, they cannot block the charge attack.
