Black Pearl Islands is a seasonal game mode first introduced in the Legend of the Duskgloom Sea update (v3.6) alongside the releases of Black Pearl Cookie and Captain Caviar Cookie. In it, players set sail on their ship, the Silent, to explore the uncharted waters of the Black Pearl Islands.
Overview[]
Players must first pay a fee of Stamina Jellies to begin a voyage. Once paid, the player may then play the mode for as long as they wish until their voyage is completed. Players may leave the voyage without ending it and begin it again where they last left off. To successfully end a voyage, players must defeat all boss islands, reach the end of the archipelago, and defeat Black Pearl Cookie. Voyages will also end once the player loses all durability on their ship, or if they choose to Drop Anchor at any time.
During a voyage, players direct the Silent through an obscured map full of challenges and treasures. Players can move to any adjacent space to the left, right, or upwards, but cannot move to spaces on the previous row. Each movement costs 100 durability—if the Silent lacks the durability to move and cannot repair itself, the voyage will end. The contents of a space will be obscured by clouds unless the Silent is nearby, and the archipelago's map will be randomly changed on each voyage.
Players earn a score based on the total number of Black Pearl Coins they collect during the voyage. Bonus score is granted for completing the voyage, as well as for unspent Black Pearl Coins, the ship's durability, and the number of Altar effects obtained. Scores are tallied at the end of the season, with players being rewarded based on their ranking in the leaderboard. If a season ends mid-voyage, the player's last score will be recorded.
Key Items[]
Black Pearl Coins[]
Black Pearl Coins | |
---|---|
These coins can be discovered throughout the Black Pearl Islands. While you will find many uses for these shinies here, they will vanish like smoke should you leave the archipelago. |
Black Pearl Coins can be obtained from various sources within the islands, such as clearing battles, mini-games, or by finding certain NPCs. They can be used to repair the Silent and to activate effects from an Altar. At the end of the voyage, all unspent Black Pearl Coins will be converted into bonus score.
Duskgloom Keys[]
Duskgloom Keys | |
---|---|
A mysterious key that was discovered from the Duskgloom Sea. As the name suggests, the key looks like it's made from the shadows. So what exactly can this key unlock? A long-lost treasure chest? Or the truth to a forgotten legend? The answer awaits in the Duskgloom Sea Treasure Chests—open one to find out! |
Duskgloom Keys are used to unlock Mysterious Chests found in random spaces in the archipelago. Unlike Black Pearl Coins, Duskgloom Keys can be obtained outside of the Black Pearl Islands and kept between voyages. They are regularly available for purchase in the Rainbow Shell Gallery and Seaside Market, and are also delivered by Trade Ships that return to Touc's Trade Harbor. They are also rewarded by the Abyssal Pearls and Explore the Black Pearl Islands events,
A final Mysterious Chest waits past the final boss at the end of the archipelago, and must be unlocked in order to successfully complete a voyage.
The Silent[]
Sailing EXP | |
---|---|
This number show(sic) exactly how much sailing experience you have gained! Gather a lot of it to show them you are not some rookie sailor. |
The player's ship, the Silent, will have a set amount of Durability. Moving to a new space will cost 100 Durability while moving to a space with a whirlpool will cost 200 Durability. Losing a mini-game or battle will cost 500 Durability. Losing all durability will force the player to end their voyage. The ship's Durability can be manually repaired up to 5 times per voyage at a cost of 4,500 Black Pearl Coins for 1,200 Durability. The ship may also be repaired by encountering the Shipwright in Distress NPC.
The Silent will begin at Lv.1 and can be upgraded to a maximum of Lv.30 through Sailing EXP obtained by clearing spaces. Upgrading the ship will increase its Max Durability and restore decreased Durability by the same amount. The Silent's level will be reset at the end of a season.

Types of Islands[]
Battle Islands[]
On battle islands, players can choose between Normal and Master difficulty to gain Black Pearl Coins and Sailing EXP, with Master difficulty providing higher rewards. Typical battle islands will consist of only two waves of enemies. Players may also encounter boss islands, which are marked by a red haze on the map. These will contain only one Boss enemy and cannot be skipped or avoided, with all other paths forward being blocked by rocks.
Players can attempt each battle island a maximum of five times. Losing all attempts will damage the Silent by 500 durability. The player can also choose to skip an island and move on without battle, though this will still cause the Silent to lose 500 durability.
Cookies battling on these islands will experience the following effects:
- Special Requirements:
- Min Cookie Lv. is 60
- Min Cookie Skill Lv. is 60
- Toppings, Bonds, Costume Sets, Guild Level, Guild Relics, Sugar Gnome Laboratory deactivated
- All enemies' Debuff Resist increases by 40%.
- The Cookies' HP Shield's capacity decreases by 60%.
- Healing received by the Cookies decreases by 60%
Mini-games[]
Players may encounter two different mini-game islands: Thunder Plunder and Duskgloom Run. Mini-games require the player to choose one Cookie to use as an avatar, with all Cookies providing the same gameplay. Like battle islands, players will be given five attempts per island and will lose 500 durability after losing all attempts or by skipping the island. Winning mini-games will reward Black Pearl Coins and Sailing EXP.
In Thunder Plunder, the chosen Cookie will be placed into a room where the player can use a joystick to move them around. Players can also use a dash ability on a short cooldown. The Cookie must avoid lightning strikes to survive for 70 seconds. Lightning strikes are indicated by glowing circles on the ground, with red circles indicating a single strike and blue circles indicating that the lightning will move back and forth. The player's Energy level will gradually decrease during the game, requiring the player to collect Energy Potions to replenish it. If the Cookie is hit by lightning, they will also lose Energy. Players can collect Black Pearl Coins that appear on the ground, which will disappear over time if not collected.
In Duskgloom Run, the chosen Cookie will be placed on a running course full of obstacles, Coins, and Black Pearl Coins. Players can either jump or slide to avoid them accordingly. Hitting obstacles will give the player a brief window of invincibility and cause them to lose Energy, which is also gradually depleted over time. Energy can be restored through potions obtainable throughout the course. To successfully complete Duskgloom Run, players must collect a certain number of Black Pearl Coins and reach the end of the course with Energy leftover.
Altars[]
Altars can provide various helpful effects that last for the duration of the voyage. While some effects can be obtained for free, most effects cost Black Pearl Coins to activate. Three effects will be shown at a time with the option to refresh the list up at a cost of Black Pearl Coins to three times. Altar Statues can be seen from a distance by the head of the statue being visible above the clouds. Effects can also be chosen when encountering a Starlight Coral Seahorse, though these will not appear above the clouds.
Obstacles[]
Spaces may contain rocks, which will prevent the player from moving to that space, or whirlpools. Rock spaces can be seen from the map to help the player navigate. Whirlpools can be passed through at a cost of 200 total durability instead of the default 100.
NPCs & Chests[]
Players may encounter various NPCs on their voyage, with each NPC providing different bonuses such as Star Jellies, Coins, or extra ship durability. Some NPCs will also provide short cutscenes. Players may also encounter treasure chests, indicated by a glowing green light above the clouds. These can be unlocked with Duskgloom Keys.
Bosses[]
To complete a voyage, players must clear 5 boss islands and defeat Black Pearl Cookie at the end of the archipelago. Defeating each boss will play a short cutscene from the perspective of a sailor on the Silent.

The Silent's Sailor | Now THAT was one possessed gardener... |
But this doesn't make sense. Why would there be a royal gardener in the Black Pearl Islands? | |
And it's not just the gardener... All of those monsters we've passed by... They're not from the sea. | |
And I'm PRETTY sure all this... haze and fog has gotten thicker. It's as if the sea is covered with... malice. | |
It's hard to see up ahead! Better take extra caution... |

Ranking & Rewards[]
Throughout a voyage, players can obtain and build up a score. This score will be combined with bonus points awarded depending on the number of unspent Black Pearl Coins, the ship's durability, and the number of Altar effects obtained by the end of a voyage. The total score will then be recorded and ranked against other players on the leaderboard, with seasonal rewards being given based on the player's ranking. Similarly to Cookie Alliance, these scores are not collective and only the highest score achieved will be ranked against other players. If the season ends mid-voyage, the player's last score will be recorded.
