A Mermaid's Tale is a Special Episode introduced in A Mermaid's Tale update (v4.9). It is unlocked once the player unlocks and upgrade Touc's Trade Harbor, though it can be unlocked early by purchasing it with 3,000 Crystals (or 300 Crystals during the A Mermaid's Tale update). The second part of the Special Episode was later added in the following mid-update (v4.10).
Overview[]
A Mermaid's Tale is composed of various levels and areas, where players progress in a very similar fashion to World Exploration. Battle levels uses Lunar Coral Quills to progress, which refill over time (or are obtained from event). By clearing stages, players can earn Coins, Kingdom EXP, Cookie EXP, as well as Underwater Catnip Coins. Dreamy Crystal Droplets can also be earned from levels during A Mermaid's Tale update.
Unlike all previous Special Episodes, the players have the choice to play any level in either Normal or Hard difficulty. Clearing the Hard difficulty of a level first will also clear its Normal difficulty, which will give the player First Clear rewards from both difficulties.

Lunar Coral Quills refill at the speed of 1 quill/40 min. 12 quills can be obtained 3 times by either purchasing with 300 Crystals or watching ads. They can also be obtained by purchasing certain packages.

Underwater Catnip Coins are the main rewards in this Special Episode. Players can exchange Underwater Catnip Coins for various items in Mermaid Kingdom Shop, which can be accessed by tapping on Catnip Cookie in Chamber of the Tear. If the player has purchased everything from the shop, every Underwater Catnip Coin obtained after that is converted to 100 Coins each.

Appearing Cookies[]
As players progress through the story, they'll encounter various characters. Information about them is added in the "Appearing Cookies" section as the story progresses, where players can review the lore about these cookies. Completing all information of a character will reward the player 100 Crystals.
White Pearl Cookie[]
- When White Pearl Cookie was held captive under the deck, she was relieved to see that none of the merfolk of Tearcrown had been captured with her.
- At night, White Pearl Cookie would often reach the surface to listen to the soothing waves. Naturally, she had to keep this little hobby of hers a secret from her rather protective sisters.
- Back when White Pearl Cookie was still a little mermaid, when she asked what kind of powers she wanted from the Sea, her answer would change every day.
- White Pearl Cookie knows every nook and cranny of Tearcrown because she'd run around the entire kingdom, exploring every corner when she was little!
- Of all the places, White Pearl Cookie enjoys taking a nap on her seashell bed the most. Maybe it's because her gem is the pearl?
Sea Fairy Cookie[]
- Sea Fairy Cookie has witnessed countless eclipses, but it still breaks her heart every time the moon hides in the shadows.
- On nights when the sky is clear and the moon is bright, you might be able to sight Sea Fairy Cookie herself.
- Sea Fairy Cookie still remembers all the wishes the sea dwellers made to her when she was still revered as the Almighty Sea.
- To this day, Sea Fairy Cookie still remembers the small and frail Cookie whose heart harbored the same wishes as hers.
- At the very last moment, before everything turned to ice, the moon seemed closer than ever, almost within reach... Sea Fairy Cookie has been looking for a proper way to find a definition for her feelings back then ever since.
Lord Oyster[]
- Truth be told, Lord Oyster wanted to become a shipwright as a young Cookie.
- When House Abalone offered their hand, Lord Oyster couldn't help but feel uneasy to take it. If he refused, this story may have had a different ending.
- To Lord Oyster, White Pearl Cookie's pearl was the symbol of an unbreakable promise, one that would stand the test of time. But, alas...
- In the future, Lord Oyster will be recorded as the one who saved House Oyster from decline.
Abalone Cookie[]
- To Abalone Cookie, everything is expendable, a means to increase his fame and wealth. Including Lord Oyster and even his crew.
- He is now captain of the Abalone Ship, but he, too, was once just a sailor.
- He has never said this out loud, but when he sees Lord Oyster, he can't help but think of his past self.
- His fancy hat he wears all the time is actually designed by himself and custom-made! A truly one-of-a-kind novelty!
Crimson Coral Cookie[]
- Crimson Coral Cookie was the youngest of the Gem Mermaids back when the Kingdom of Tearcrown was just founded.
- Sometimes, she can't help but miss her other sisters who are no longer with her, but her sweet and lovely sisters by her side always cheer her up.
- Although Crimson Coral Cookie has the power to command the creatures of the sea, she will not put this power to use unless absolutely necessary.
- Crimson Coral Cookie doesn't need to use her powers to get help from the coral seahorse. They're the best of friends and have each other's backs!
- Crimson Coral Cookie starts her day by wearing her coral crown, and ends her day by taking the crown off and polishing it.
Frilled Jellyfish Cookie[]
- Frilled Jellyfish Cookie can tell every jellyfish apart, even if they may look the same to everyone else!
- Frilled Jellyfish Cookie knows every nook and cranny of Tearcrown, just like White Pearl Cookie.
- Frilled Jellyfish Cookie is responsible for tidying up the kingdom and ensuring it's shiny like new. That's why the younger Tearcrown merfolk, prone to creating a mess, finds her a bit scary.
- The first thing Frilled Jellyfish Cookie does in the morning is listen to her jellyfish helpers and hear the news from around the kingdom.
- The second thing Frilled Jellyfish Cookie does in the morning is to wake up White Pearl Cookie!
Mystic Opal Cookie[]
- Mystic Opal Cookie knows that it doesn't make much sense how she can control the weather when she lives underwater. But she says that's exactly why she likes it.
- She sometimes will receive visions of the future, but she rarely shares them with anyone.
- Mystic Opal Cookie almost didn't show up to her own Sea Foam Rite because she doesn't enjoy loud and busy places. Or so they say!
- While she doesn't enjoy the company of other Cookies, Mystic Opal Cookie will still welcome those who visit her cave.
Aquamarine Cookie[]
- Aquamarine Cookie loves filling the garden with her sisters' favorite sea plants!
- You can tell the season when you take a look at Aquamarine Cookie's garden because it's always changing to the weather.
- Aquamarine Cookie wants Crimson Coral Cookie to share her responsibilities and burdens with her. She just wants to help!
- Since Aquamarine Cookie knows a lot about plants, she knows which ones are edible and which aren't.
Gold Citrine Cookie[]
- Gold Citrine Cookie is more curious about land Cookie things, but only because they have a lot of sparkling items!
- If you wish to meet Gold Citrine Cookie, find the most shiny and glittering room in Tearcrown!
- Gold Citrine Cookie is actually the third oldest of the gem mermaids, but some confuse her with being the fourth because of rather wild temperament.
- While Gold Citrine Cookie enjoys the sparkling objects of the land Cookies, she doesn't enjoy the land Cookies themselves. Cookies with legs are just too odd and foreign to her!
Peppermint Cookie[]
- Peppermint Cookie has been holding on the conch shell ever since befriending the Peppermint Whale!
- Perhaps the reason why Peppermint Cookie can hear the sea's stories is because the patient little Cookie has always been staring into the end.
- Peppermint Cookie can tell what kind of stories the waves hold just by looking at them.
- Peppermint Cookie enjoys telling all sorts of stories to the Peppermint Whale.
Black Pearl Cookie[]
- Consumed by wrath and hatred, she no longer remembers her dreams and wishes from when she was young.
- The Duskgloom Sea became part of Black Pearl Cookie the moment she consumed the Sea Fairy Tear.
- Black Pearl Cookie is all alone in the Duskgloom Sea, but she has never felt lonely, for she feels her power surging within.
- It would seem like Black Pearl Cookie has lost her family, her pearl, and her love, but perhaps the Sea knows something we don't know.
- She sometimes find herself talking to the Sea during the lunar eclipse, but she has never been answered.
